Day 1 Recap: U17 Boys JamRockerz Basketball Classic Tips Off in Montego Bay!

The highly anticipated U17 Boys JamRockerz Basketball Classic kicked off in thrilling fashion today at Montego Bay Community College. With top youth teams from Jamaica, the USA, and Canada competing, the opening day did not disappoint, delivering high-level competition and exciting matchups that set the stage for an unforgettable tournament.


Game 1: Hardwood Kings vs. P.H.A.S.E. 1 International


The day began with a nail-biter as P.H.A.S.E. 1 International narrowly edged out the Hardwood Kings with a 67-65 victory. Dwain Cummings led P.H.A.S.E. 1 International with an impressive performance, scoring 21 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 1 assist, and swiping 2 steals. For the Hardwood Kings, Elijah Harriott was a standout, contributing 15 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 3 steals. The game was a showcase of resilience and talent, setting a high standard for the tournament.


Game 2: P.H.A.S.E. 1 Montego Bay vs. Team Takeover


In the second matchup of the day, Team Takeover secured a hard-fought 56-53 win over P.H.A.S.E. 1 Montego Bay. Doran Clausell of Team Takeover dominated on both ends of the court, racking up 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. Despite the loss, Daire Paterson was a force for P.H.A.S.E. 1 Montego Bay, recording a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks. This game was a battle of wills, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination.


Game 3: P.H.A.S.E. 1 Academy International vs. P.H.A.S.E. 1 Trelawny


P.H.A.S.E. 1 Academy International continued their winning streak in Game 3, defeating P.H.A.S.E. 1 Trelawny 65-46. Anthony Ingeton was the star of the game, leading the charge for International with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Daniel Clarke of Trelawny gave a valiant effort, adding 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. The game was a testament to P.H.A.S.E. 1 Academy International’s depth and talent, as they outpaced their counterparts from Trelawny.


Game 4: Kingston vs. Team Takeover


The final game of the day saw Team Takeover once again assert their dominance, this time with a convincing 52-23 victory over Kingston. Elijah Flowers led the way for Team Takeover, scoring 16 points and pulling down 5 rebounds. For Kingston, LeBron Lewison stood out, contributing 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal. Team Takeover’s relentless defense and efficient offense were too much for Kingston to handle, capping off an intense day of competition.
