Rising Stars Diaspora Tour · Bronx · Sunday, October 11, 2026 · Evander Childs Campus

Before a single game tipped off at the first stop of the Rising Stars Diaspora Tour, every player stepped up to the combine. Players aged 11 to 17, all with Jamaican roots, were measured and tested across nine events covering size, explosiveness, strength and ball handling.

The combine gives every athlete a starting point: real numbers they can see, own and work to beat. It also gives our coaches and scouts an honest, side-by-side look at each player, alongside what they saw in games.

Standout performances

Size. #36 Chanse Shallow and #16 Brandon Gordon led both size tests in their age groups. Brandon's 7'1" wingspan was the longest at camp.

Explosiveness. #12 Lucas Bowman produced the longest standing broad jump of the day at 9'5½". In the younger group, #11 Adonijah Cross jumped 8'1".

Strength. #1 Jordan Poyser swept both strength tests for ages 11–14, with 41 push-ups and 61 sit-ups. #22 Zion Thomas led the older group with 52 push-ups, and #43 Azariah Cross posted 60 sit-ups.

Ball handling. #10 Deandre Jamison put on a show, leading both figure 8 drills (72 forward, 69 backward) and sharing the top flips score with #20 Frederick Salce. In the younger group, #37 Adam Lawrence swept flips and flops, #2 Kevin Parkes led figure 8 forward, and #6 Levi Poyser led figure 8 backward.

All-around. #6 Levi Poyser made the Top 5 in all nine tests for ages 11–14, the only player at camp to do it. In the older group, #43 Azariah Cross made six of the nine, including every strength and ball-handling test.

Why the numbers matter

"Data gives every player something no one can take away from them: the truth about where they are today. When a young athlete knows their reach, their jump, their strength and their handle, they have a benchmark. Every time they come back to a P.H.A.S.E. 1 event, we measure again, and they can see their own growth in black and white. That's what motivates kids to put in the work when nobody is watching. It also helps our coaches and partners evaluate players fairly and open the right doors for them, here and back home in Jamaica."Wayne Dawkins, Global Director, P.H.A.S.E. 1

Every athlete's results are now part of their P.H.A.S.E. 1 player record. Families will receive a report card with their player's numbers, and every player will be considered for the January 2027 Diaspora Rankings.

The tour continues

The Bronx was only the first stop. The Rising Stars Diaspora Tour will continue, and new dates and locations will be announced soon. Players who tested in the Bronx will have the chance to test again and track their progress.

Thank you to Evander Childs Campus Basketball for hosting, and to every coach and volunteer who recorded results on the day.
